Is Orrery a martingale or grid EA?

No. It opens one position at a time at a fixed size, with a stop-loss attached to the order from the moment it is sent. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression of any kind.

On Exness MT5 JP225 history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick" model generated from M1 bars, over a 2019-01-01 to 2026-08-01 window at the JP225 minimum volume of 3 lots on a $10,000 balance. Exness's JP225 tick history begins in July 2021, so the trades effectively span July 2021 to August 2026 — about five years. The published backtest is the part that ends at the 2026-04-01 cutoff; what the same build did after that date is shown separately as the verification window, so the two never share a trade. Every closed trade is published on this page and downloadable as CSV.

Does the backtest include swap?

There was none to include — every deal in this run carries zero swap in the tester report, so the published profits include no financing cost either way. Check your own broker's JP225 contract terms, as live swap policies differ.

Why are the target and stop the same distance?

The distance is 1.2605% of the index price both ways, so a trade wins or loses roughly the same amount. The edge in the published record is not an asymmetric payoff — it is that 57.1% of trades closed on the winning side. A symmetric exit also makes the record easy to audit from the trade ledger.

Why does it trade so rarely?

By design. A cross only counts when the signal bar's body is at least twice the 14-bar average — a volatility burst. Most hourly crosses happen on quiet bars and are ignored, which is why the record averages a few trades a month and sat out entire weeks.

What does the 3-lot minimum mean for my account?

Exness lists JP225 with a minimum volume of 3 lots, and the EA rounds any smaller request up to that minimum, so 3 lots is the effective floor per position — the published record was measured at exactly that size on $10,000. On JP225's contract size the notional is modest and the measured drawdown was 0.67%, but on a much smaller balance the fixed minimum becomes a larger share of the account, so scale your deposit accordingly.

Does it trade at particular hours?

No. There is no time or session filter. A qualifying cross on any closed hourly bar can open a trade, day or night.

A trend-following EA that opens a single position, long or short, when the Ichimoku Tenkan line crosses the Kijun line on JP225 H1 during a volatility burst, then manages it with a symmetric target and stop, each 1.2605% of the index price.

There is no session filter and no time window. Every closed H1 bar of the Japan 225 index CFD is checked around the clock, so the EA behaves the same on any broker's server clock.

A Cross During A Burst

Two things must line up on the same closed bar — the Tenkan-sen (7) crossing the Kijun-sen (26), and that bar's body being at least twice the average body of the last 14 hourly bars. A cross on a quiet bar is ignored.

Only these two Ichimoku lines are used. The cloud is not part of the rule.

An upward cross opens a buy, a downward cross opens a sell — always a single position. A new signal while a position is open is ignored, so the EA never stacks or hedges.

A Stop That Scales With The Index

The stop-loss is 1.2605% of the entry price, attached to the order when it is sent. Because it is a percentage, the stop distance in points grew with the index itself as JP225 roughly doubled across the test window — no re-tuning.

The position closes at a take-profit the same 1.2605% away, at the stop, or not at all until one of them is hit. With an even distance both ways, the record's edge is that 57.1% of trades closed on the winning side.

Is Orrery a martingale or grid EA?: No. It opens one position at a time at a fixed size, with a stop-loss attached to the order from the moment it is sent. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression of any kind.
How was it tested?: On Exness MT5 JP225 history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick" model generated from M1 bars, over a 2019-01-01 to 2026-08-01 window at the JP225 minimum volume of 3 lots on a $10,000 balance. Exness's JP225 tick history begins in July 2021, so the trades effectively span July 2021 to August 2026 — about five years. The published backtest is the part that ends at the 2026-04-01 cutoff; what the same build did after that date is shown separately as the verification window, so the two never share a trade. Every closed trade is published on this page and downloadable as CSV.
Does the backtest include swap?: There was none to include — every deal in this run carries zero swap in the tester report, so the published profits include no financing cost either way. Check your own broker's JP225 contract terms, as live swap policies differ.
Why are the target and stop the same distance?: The distance is 1.2605% of the index price both ways, so a trade wins or loses roughly the same amount. The edge in the published record is not an asymmetric payoff — it is that 57.1% of trades closed on the winning side. A symmetric exit also makes the record easy to audit from the trade ledger.
Why does it trade so rarely?: By design. A cross only counts when the signal bar's body is at least twice the 14-bar average — a volatility burst. Most hourly crosses happen on quiet bars and are ignored, which is why the record averages a few trades a month and sat out entire weeks.
What does the 3-lot minimum mean for my account?: Exness lists JP225 with a minimum volume of 3 lots, and the EA rounds any smaller request up to that minimum, so 3 lots is the effective floor per position — the published record was measured at exactly that size on $10,000. On JP225's contract size the notional is modest and the measured drawdown was 0.67%, but on a much smaller balance the fixed minimum becomes a larger share of the account, so scale your deposit accordingly.
Does it trade at particular hours?: No. There is no time or session filter. A qualifying cross on any closed hourly bar can open a trade, day or night.
