전략 로직

Tradewind의 매매 방식

It waits for two moving averages to agree on direction, buys the pullback to the lower Bollinger band, and then protects the trade at 42 pips rather than holding out for the full target.

01 시장

언제 매매하는가

A trend it can lean on

The EA does nothing until the 75 and 225-period averages on M5 point the same way. That state is the whole permission slip: outside it, no amount of price action produces a trade.

02 셋업

무엇을 찾는가

Price falls back to the band

Inside that trend it waits for price to drop to the lower Bollinger band (20, 2.0). It is buying weakness inside strength, not a breakout, and it never sells the mirror image of this setup.

03 진입

어떻게 진입하는가

One buy, Monday to Thursday

When both conditions hold on a closed bar it opens a single 0.1-lot buy, provided the spread is under 50 points. The compiled weekday test keeps it out of Fridays — one trade in the whole record entered on a Friday, at midnight, off a Thursday signal bar.

04 리스크

어떻게 방어하는가

A 70-pip stop that moves once

Every trade carries a 70-pip stop from the moment it opens. At 42 pips in profit that stop jumps to entry plus one pip and stays there, which caps the loss at zero for the rest of the trade's life.

05 청산

어떻게 청산하는가

More break-evens than targets

The 140-pip target was reached 126 times and the original stop 198 times, but the moved break-even stop ended 219 of them — the most common outcome is a trade that went 42 pips right and then gave it back.

  • The EA refuses to start on any timeframe other than M5 — it checks the chart period on start-up and stops with a message.
  • Set the three server-clock inputs before running it live. The weekday test converts the signal bar's time to UTC, so on a GMT+2/+3 server left at 0 the day boundary shifts by two to three hours and part of Friday moves into the traded window.
  • There is a spread guard — entries are skipped above 50 points — but there is no drawdown guard. Nothing halts trading after a losing run; the only protection on any single trade is its stop.

자주 묻는 질문

Is Tradewind a martingale or grid EA?
No. It opens one position at a time with a fixed lot, a fixed 70-pip stop and a fixed 140-pip target. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression. A setup that appears while a position is open is ignored. The maximum number of positions open at the same time, across the whole published record, is one.
How was it tested?
On Exness MT5 USD/JPY history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick based on real ticks" model (Model 4), from 2019-01-01 to 2026-04-01 with 0.1 lot on a $10,000 balance. The tester reported the history quality of that run as 100% real ticks over 224 million ticks. The period after the cut-off was measured as a separate run on the same binary and is published here as the verification window. Every closed trade from both runs is on this page and downloadable as CSV.
Does the backtest include swap?
There was none to include. Every deal in this run recorded a swap of 0.00 and a commission of 0.00, so the published net is the raw price result with nothing subtracted. That is a property of the tested history, not a promise about your account — 433 of the trades were held across at least one night, with a median hold of about 26 hours and a longest of 29 days, so carry costs on a live account will show up.
Why does it only buy?
Because the build has no sell branch. Every one of the 563 trades on this page is a buy. In a USD/JPY downtrend it does not reverse, it stands aside — which is why 2020 and 2025 are both losing years in the record while 2022 and 2024 are the two best.
Why do so many trades end near zero?
The break-even move. Once a trade is 42 pips ahead the stop jumps to entry plus one pip, and 219 of the 563 trades ended there — more than the 126 that reached the 140-pip target or the 198 that took the full stop. It is the single most common outcome and it is deliberate — it is what keeps the drawdown at -10.37% on an EA whose average loss (-46.93) is larger than its average win (40.09).
Why does it skip Fridays?
The weekday test is part of the build that was measured, and the record on this page is the record of that build. We did not measure why removing Fridays helps, and we are not claiming Fridays are bad for USD/JPY — the honest statement is that this is the version that was tested and shipped. One trade in the record entered on a Friday, at midnight, off a Thursday signal bar.
Do I have to set the GMT offset?
Yes, if your broker's server clock is not UTC. The weekday test reads the signal bar's time converted to UTC, and the three server-clock inputs are what perform that conversion. They are 0 on this page because the tested history is UTC-based. Leaving them at 0 on a GMT+2/+3 server moves the day boundary by two to three hours, which pulls part of Friday into the traded window and pushes part of Monday out of it.
What does the -10.37% drawdown actually look like?
It formed over 2020 and bottomed at the end of December that year, and 2020 closed at -740.11 on the $10,000 account. The other losing year, 2025, closed at -749.31. Neither was a single bad trade — the largest loss in the whole record is -90.74 and the longest losing streak is six trades. It is the shape of a strategy that gives back a year at a time, not one that blows up in a week.
