Is Antipode a martingale or grid EA?

No. It opens one position at a time with a fixed lot, a fixed 114-pip stop and a fixed 171-pip target. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression. A second RSI extreme while a position is open is ignored. The maximum number of positions open at the same time, measured across the whole published record, is one.

On Exness MT5 EUR/AUD history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick based on real ticks" model (Model 4), from 2019-01-01 to 2026-07-01 with 0.1 lot on a $10,000 balance. The tester reported the history quality of that run as 100% real ticks over 298 million ticks. All 230 closed trades are published on this page and downloadable as CSV.

Why does it win less than half the time?

Because the target is wider than the stop. Fewer than half the entries close in profit, but the average win was 113.80 against an average loss of -80.14, so the smaller share of winners still covers the larger share of losers. A 46% win rate is what a 171-pip target paired with a 114-pip stop produces, not a sign that something is wrong.

How bad do the losing streaks get?

The longest run of consecutive losses in the published record is 8. Of the eight calendar years the record touches, two ended negative — 2020 at -276.23 and the partial 2026 at -35.79. The deepest the balance fell from a peak was 7.43% ($822.63), and on equity, marking an open position to market, 8.02% ($890.71).

Does the backtest include swap?

Yes. The run recorded -523.49 of swap in total and the published net is the figure after it. All of it fell on the long side — 104 of the 113 long trades paid carry, while the 117 short trades cost nothing to hold in the tested history. 207 of the 230 trades stayed open longer than eight hours, with a median hold of about 83 hours and a longest of 41 days, so carry matters here. Your broker's rates will differ and the sign on the long side can move. Commission was zero in this run.

Why does it trade so rarely?

Both an RSI extreme on a closed four-hour bar and a free position slot are needed, and EUR/AUD reaches those extremes only a few dozen times a year. Across the measured record it averaged about thirty trades a year, though the rate is not steady — the six full years range from 24 to 48.

Does it trade at particular hours?

No. There is no time, session or day filter. Any closed H4 bar whose RSI is past the threshold can open a trade, provided no position is already open.

Can I run it on another pair or timeframe?

The timeframe is enforced — on anything other than H4 the EA stops in OnInit and prints the reason. Nothing stops you attaching it to another pair, but the thresholds and the 114/171-pip distances were fitted to EUR/AUD and the published record says nothing about how they behave elsewhere.

Strategy logic

How Antipode Trades

It takes the opposite side of a stretched EUR/AUD four-hour bar and leaves on a fixed target or a fixed stop.

01 Market

When it trades

One pair, one timeframe

The EA watches EUR/AUD only, and only the four-hour chart. On any other timeframe it refuses to start rather than trade a strategy it was not measured on. Between the two currencies it is a cross with no US dollar leg, which is why it spends long stretches ranging.

02 Setup

What it looks for

Waiting for a stretch

A 12-period RSI is calculated on each closed four-hour bar. Nothing happens while that reading sits in the middle of its range — across seven and a half years the EA found a reason to act about thirty times a year.

03 Entry

How it enters

Taking the other side

When the RSI closes below 27 the EA buys; when it closes above 75 it sells. The thresholds are fixed in the build. Only one entry is considered per bar, and only when no position is already open.

04 Risk

How it protects

A fixed stop and nothing behind it

Every entry carries a 114-pip stop placed at the same moment as the order. There is no grid, no averaging down and no second position to rescue the first, so the stop is the whole of the downside on any one trade.

05 Exit

How it exits

Target or stop, no trailing

The trade leaves at a 171-pip take profit or the 114-pip stop, whichever price reaches first. Nothing moves the stop while the trade is open and there is no break-even step. The median trade took about 83 hours to resolve; the longest ran 41 days.

Important notes

The EA refuses to start on any timeframe other than H4 — it checks the chart period in OnInit and stops with a message. This is deliberate: the record was measured on H4 and another period silently becomes a different strategy.
The magic number shipped in the preset is unique to this EA across our catalogue. If you run several of our EAs on one account, leave those numbers as they are — two EAs sharing a magic number will each treat the other's positions as its own.
There is no spread guard in this build. EUR/AUD is a cross and spreads on it vary widely between brokers; one materially wider than the tested history will erode the result rather than skip the trade.
There is no drawdown guard. Nothing halts trading after a losing run; the only protection on any single trade is its stop.
Carry is not incidental here. The median trade stayed open about 83 hours and the longest ran 41 days, so 207 of the 230 trades were held across at least one rollover. Your broker's swap rates will differ from the tested history, and the sign on the long side can move.

The shipped build only checks that the trading account is linked to mt5depot as an IB account. Any of these brokers works:

Is Antipode a martingale or grid EA?: No. It opens one position at a time with a fixed lot, a fixed 114-pip stop and a fixed 171-pip target. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression. A second RSI extreme while a position is open is ignored. The maximum number of positions open at the same time, measured across the whole published record, is one.
How was it tested?: On Exness MT5 EUR/AUD history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick based on real ticks" model (Model 4), from 2019-01-01 to 2026-07-01 with 0.1 lot on a $10,000 balance. The tester reported the history quality of that run as 100% real ticks over 298 million ticks. All 230 closed trades are published on this page and downloadable as CSV.
Why does it win less than half the time?: Because the target is wider than the stop. Fewer than half the entries close in profit, but the average win was 113.80 against an average loss of -80.14, so the smaller share of winners still covers the larger share of losers. A 46% win rate is what a 171-pip target paired with a 114-pip stop produces, not a sign that something is wrong.
How bad do the losing streaks get?: The longest run of consecutive losses in the published record is 8. Of the eight calendar years the record touches, two ended negative — 2020 at -276.23 and the partial 2026 at -35.79. The deepest the balance fell from a peak was 7.43% ($822.63), and on equity, marking an open position to market, 8.02% ($890.71).
Does the backtest include swap?: Yes. The run recorded -523.49 of swap in total and the published net is the figure after it. All of it fell on the long side — 104 of the 113 long trades paid carry, while the 117 short trades cost nothing to hold in the tested history. 207 of the 230 trades stayed open longer than eight hours, with a median hold of about 83 hours and a longest of 41 days, so carry matters here. Your broker's rates will differ and the sign on the long side can move. Commission was zero in this run.
Why does it trade so rarely?: Both an RSI extreme on a closed four-hour bar and a free position slot are needed, and EUR/AUD reaches those extremes only a few dozen times a year. Across the measured record it averaged about thirty trades a year, though the rate is not steady — the six full years range from 24 to 48.
Does it trade at particular hours?: No. There is no time, session or day filter. Any closed H4 bar whose RSI is past the threshold can open a trade, provided no position is already open.
Can I run it on another pair or timeframe?: The timeframe is enforced — on anything other than H4 the EA stops in OnInit and prints the reason. Nothing stops you attaching it to another pair, but the thresholds and the 114/171-pip distances were fitted to EUR/AUD and the published record says nothing about how they behave elsewhere.
