Metronome의 매매 방식

It waits for the Ichimoku conversion line to cross its base line on an unusually wide bar, takes the other side of that move, and lets a trailing stop decide when to leave.

01 시장

언제 매매하는가

A cross on a wide bar

The EA reads the Ichimoku conversion line against its base line on the hourly chart. A cross on a quiet bar is ignored; only a bar at least 1.5 times the recent average range counts as a signal.

02 셋업

It fades the cross

This is a reversion entry. When the cross fires it takes the opposite side of the move that produced it, on the view that an outsized hourly bar on an index tends to give some of itself back.

Either direction, one at a time

It trades long and short with the same rules and the same distances — 194 buys and 211 sells across the record. A signal that appears while a position is open is ignored.

A stop measured in percent

The stop sits 1.2605% away from the entry price rather than a fixed number of points, so it scales with the index level. The worst single trade in the whole record is -17.05.

The trail does everything

There is no take-profit in this build. Once a trade moves in favour, a trailing stop 0.7563% behind price follows it, and that stop is what eventually closes it. The median hold is just under a day; the longest ran two weeks.

자주 묻는 질문

Is Metronome a martingale or grid EA?
No. It opens one position at a time with a fixed size, a fixed percentage stop and a trailing stop. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression. A signal that appears while a position is open is ignored. The maximum number of positions open at the same time, across the whole published record, is one.
How was it tested?
On Exness MT5 Nikkei 225 history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick based on real ticks" model (Model 4), from 2019-01-01 to 2026-04-01 on a $10,000 balance. The tester reported the history quality of that run as 100% real ticks. The period after the cut-off was measured as a separate run on the same binary and is published here as the verification window. Every closed trade from both runs is on this page and downloadable as CSV.
Why is every trade 3 lots when LotSize says 0.1?
Because the index contract has a minimum volume of 3.0 and the broker rounds up. The EA asks for 0.1 and gets 3. That is not a setting we chose — it is what the instrument enforces — but it is why the published figures are what they are, and why a broker with a different minimum will not reproduce this page.
Does the backtest include swap?
There was none to include. Every deal in this run recorded a swap of 0.00 and a commission of 0.00, so the published net is the raw price result with nothing subtracted. That is a property of the tested history, not a promise about your account — 286 of the trades were held across at least one night, so index financing on a live account will show up and it is not small relative to these numbers.
Why is there no take-profit?
The build does not have one, on either side. Trades end at the 1.2605% stop or at the 0.7563% trailing stop and nowhere else. That is a deliberate shape — the trail lets a good move run instead of capping it, and the largest single win in the record, +53.22, is about eight times the average win.
The profits look small — why?
Because the drawdown is small. 405 trades over seven and a quarter years came to 406.98 on a $10,000 account, against a maximum drawdown of -1.16%. The average trade makes about a dollar. This is the shallowest curve in this catalogue and the returns are in proportion; it is published as measured rather than scaled up by a larger position.
The win rate is high but the average loss is bigger than the average win — is that a problem?
It is the shape of the strategy and it is worth understanding before you run it. The average win is 6.56 and the average loss -9.23, so the result depends on winning about two trades in three, which it did (64.94%). The longest losing streak in the record is four. If the hit rate drops, this EA stops working faster than one that relies on large winners.
