전략 로직

Stillwater의 매매 방식

A long-only EA that buys short pullbacks inside an existing uptrend on USD/JPY — it requires the 25, 50 and 75-period moving averages on M30 to be stacked in order, then buys after five consecutive falling M5 bars, holding one position behind a 100-pip stop with a 200-pip target and a break-even move at 60 pips.

USD/JPY, Five Minutes, No Time Filter

There is no session, day or news filter — but there is a direction filter, and it is strict. The EA is only interested in USD/JPY while a higher-timeframe uptrend is already in place, and it does nothing at all the rest of the time.

02 셋업

무엇을 찾는가

M30 Averages Stacked In Order

Before anything else the EA checks the 25, 50 and 75-period simple moving averages on the M30 chart and requires them to be in order. This filter is fixed to M30 inside the build — it does not follow the chart the EA is attached to.

Because the filter is read on the previous closed M30 bar, it cannot repaint mid-bar.

Five Falling Bars In A Row

With the trend filter satisfied, the EA counts consecutive falling M5 bars and buys once five have closed in a row. At most one entry per closed bar, and if a position is already open the setup is ignored entirely.

A 100-Pip Stop, Never Widened

The stop-loss is attached when the order is sent and is never moved further away. It is half the size of the target, but in practice the target is the rarer of the two outcomes.

Usually Break-Even, Sometimes The Target

At 60 pips of profit the stop jumps to entry plus one pip. From there the trade either runs to the 200-pip target or is closed at that break-even stop — and in the published record the break-even stop is what closed most of the winners.

  • The EA refuses to start on any timeframe other than M5 — it checks the chart period in OnInit and stops with a message. The higher-timeframe filter is separately fixed to M30 inside the build and does not follow the chart.
  • There is a spread guard in this build — entries are skipped while the spread is above 40 points. On a broker with a persistently wider USD/JPY spread the EA will take fewer trades rather than worse ones.
  • There is no drawdown guard. Nothing halts trading after a losing run; the only protection on any single trade is its stop.

자주 묻는 질문

Is Stillwater a martingale or grid EA?
No. It opens one position at a time with a fixed lot, a fixed 100-pip stop and a fixed 200-pip target. There is no averaging down, no grid, no recovery trade and no lot progression. A fresh setup while a position is open is ignored. The maximum number of positions open at the same time, measured across the whole published record, is one.
How was it tested?
On Exness MT5 USD/JPY history in the MetaTrader 5 strategy tester, on the "every tick based on real ticks" model (Model 4), from 2019-01-01 to 2026-07-01 with 0.1 lot on a $10,000 balance. The tester reported the history quality of that run as 100% real ticks over 229 million ticks. All 421 closed trades are published on this page and downloadable as CSV.
Does the backtest include swap?
There was none to include. Every one of the 843 deals in this run recorded a swap of exactly zero, because the EA only ever holds buys and the USD/JPY history it was tested on carries no long-side swap. That is a property of the test data, not a promise — 371 of the 421 trades stayed open across at least one night, with a median hold of about 51 hours and a longest of 44 days, so whatever swap your broker charges on long USD/JPY will apply to them and is not reflected here. Commission was also zero in this run.
Why does it only buy?
The build has no sell logic at all — every trade in the published record is a buy. It is designed to take pullbacks inside an uptrend, so when USD/JPY is falling it produces nothing rather than flipping direction. Long stretches with no trades are the normal behaviour, not a fault.
The win rate is 60% — does that mean the wins are big?
No, the opposite. The average win was 53.98 and the average loss -65.24. The 200-pip target was reached 92 times, while the full stop was hit 144 times and the remainder closed at the break-even stop. The edge is in how often it wins, not in how much it wins.
What does the higher-timeframe filter actually do?
It reads the 25, 50 and 75-period simple moving averages on the M30 chart and only allows entries while they are stacked in order. It is fixed to M30 inside the build, so it stays on M30 no matter which chart the EA is attached to. In practice it is what keeps the EA out of downtrends.
How often does it trade?
About five times a month across the published record — 421 trades over seven and a half years. The rate is far from constant — the last four full years each carried roughly three times as many trades as the first year.
